Privacy Policy for Slate
Effective Date: August 2026
Slate ("the App") is designed with your privacy in mind. This policy explains, simply and clearly, what data the App interacts with and how.
Data We Do Not Collect
Slate does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to us or to any third party. We have no servers, no analytics, no advertising SDKs, and no user accounts of our own.
Data the App Accesses
To function, Slate requests access to the following data, which is only handled by Apple's own frameworks and stays under your control at all times:
- Calendar and Reminders: With your permission, Slate reads and writes events and reminders directly to Apple's Calendar and Reminders databases (via Apple's EventKit framework). This data belongs to you and remains stored by Apple's system services, exactly as if you used the built-in Calendar or Reminders app. Slate does not copy or retain this data anywhere else.
- Notes: Notes you write in Slate are stored locally on your device. If you have iCloud enabled, they sync privately across your own devices via Apple's CloudKit private database — this data is encrypted and only accessible to you through your Apple ID. We have no access to it.
- Notifications: If you enable notifications, Slate uses Apple's notification system to remind you of upcoming items. No notification content is sent through any external service.
Third-Party Sharing
We do not share, sell, or transfer any data to third parties, because we do not collect any data in the first place. Slate does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
Data Retention and Deletion
Since Slate does not store any of your data on external servers, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on your behalf. You control your data entirely:
- Deleting an event, reminder, or note in Slate removes it from Apple's Calendar, Reminders, or your local storage/iCloud, following standard Apple deletion behavior.
- Uninstalling Slate removes locally stored data on your device. Your Calendar and Reminders data remains untouched, as it is managed by Apple, not by Slate.
Children's Privacy
Slate does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children, because it does not collect data at all.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same URL with a new effective date.
